How the Training Plan was created

The Training Plan draws together expert input from the Children and Families Panel, the Professional Panel, a UNCRC Training Champions Group, and conversations with topic experts. The Training Champions Group met three times in 2023 and represented children’s rights training leads across Scotland. The group included sectors such as early years, government, fund managers, higher and further education, the third sector and public service providers. 

The discovery process included a mixed methods training needs analysis conducted in late 2022. The team conducted desk research, interviewed people creating training plans and people delivering training, and facilitated focus groups with trainers specific to children’s legal rights and equalities topics in Scotland. The project team also circulated two surveys for the public authority workforce and learning leads, to begin a consultation process with workers in Scotland about what training they already use and recommend.
